Understanding Visceral Fat

What is it? Unlike subcutaneous fat (which sits just under the skin), visceral fat is stored deep within the abdominal cavity, wrapping around major organs like the liver, pancreas, and intestines.
Why does it matter? It's considered metabolically active, releasing inflammatory markers and fatty acids into the bloodstream. High levels are linked to increased risk of Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome.
Key Causes: High sugar intake, chronic stress (cortisol), lack of sleep, and sedentary lifestyle are primary contributors.
